Children by nature, are tender, impressionable and fragile. Therefore, it is important that parents take utmost care in how they handle the little ones. If we don’t, the chances of they getting scarred are high. In some cases, they may never recover.
So, please do not weigh down the child. It is advisable for parents to be loving, kind, gentle, patient and forbearing with the children. This is not papering. Papering is entirely different, though may appear like love. Pampering is not healthy, rather detrimental to the child. It will only spoil the child. Love doesn’t harm nor hurt the child.
Any child who has ever truly loved and cared, will not be lost. Yes, they may wander, and sometimes wander too far. But they will be back on the right track. Have we forgotten the parable of the Prodigal Son?
Let us show the children, that they are important to us. Our excusing and forgiving a child helps them more, than being strict, rigid and inflexible. If we are tough on a child, before long, we will become hard, harsh and insensitive towards our children.
The Bible, which is a repository of wisdom, has these words for parents – “4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.”
“21 Fathers, do not provoke your children, lest they become discouraged.”
“6 Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Ephesians 6:4, Colossians 3:21, Proverbs 22:6.
"Encourage and support your kids because children are apt to live up to what you believe of them."
