The journey that we have ahead of us on the earth, has heaven as its destination. That is where are all are travelling to. It is an amazing place, as the Sunday School chorus goes – “Heaven is a wonderful place. Filled with glory and grace. I want to see my Saviour’s face…” Wouldn’t it be wonderful to see our Master’s face? Oh that glorious day!!!
Meanwhile, we have a journey on hand. It is fraught with difficulties and dangers. Many times we pass through darkness and deep ravines. This is part of it all. Hence, Paul has these words for us in Philippians 3:17,20-4:1.
“17 Brethren, join in following my example, and note those who so walk, as you have us for a pattern.
20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, 21 who will transform our lowly body that it may be conformed to His glorious body, according to the working by which He is able even to subdue all things to Himself.
1 Therefore, my beloved and longed-for brethren, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, beloved.”
Let us stand fast. Let us not get disturbed. Let us look into the Saviour, the LORD Jesus Christ, the Author and the Finisher of our faith [Hebrews 12:1,2] – and run the race that is set before us with patience. May the LORD help us!
"Life is a journey – and the Christian life is a greatest journey of all. It’s not always easy or fun, but as believers we know that God will help us through those patches of rough roadway, no streetlights, and broken bridges. If you’re feeling weary in your journey, take courage – your guide is Jesus, and your final destination is Heaven!"
