Standing firm requires, intention and intelligence, as well as the physical and emotional strength. To stand firm on matters of significance gets much more complicated when things are not in our favour. This is the time when we are called to stand up for truth.
Paul, writing to the Thessalonian Christians, urges them this – “15 So then, brothers, stand firm and hold to the traditions that you were taught by us, either by our spoken word or by our letter.” – 2 Thessalonians 2:15
The Apostle John writing in 1 John 4:1-6 has this to exhort us – “Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.”
Standing firm is always associated with knowing the Scriptures, and knowing the times, and the time tested Christian stand and position as in the doctrines. Let us know the Scriptures and follow the Word of God, and not the person. Have we forgotten the Berians?
"10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. 12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few."
