The Word of God is always clear and there is no ambiguity in its understanding nor in its application. Therefore, the Psalmist says in Psalm 118:105 – “105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
What is the purpose of a lamp and it’s light? It illuminates our path, and helps us walk on it safely and securely. The point to note, and one which many times we miss is that, the lamp itself doesn’t walk the path. It helps us walk. Therefore, the wiseman is he who takes the lamp and walks the path.
The LORD Jesus in His ‘Sermon on the Mount’ says – “12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.” – Matthew 7:12. It simply means to do to others by way of your THOUGHTS, WORDS and DEEDS, what we want others to think, speak and do to us.
The point to note – it doesn’t say – DO SO, ONLY IF OTHERS DO FIRST. Whether others do it or not, we have to THINK, SPEAK and DO what the LORD is asking of us. Not easy, but is a MUST. May the LORD help us.
"Radical obedience to Christ is not easy... It's not comfort, not health, not wealth, and not prosperity in this world. Radical obedience to Christ risks losing all these things. But in the end, such risk finds its reward in Christ. And he is more than enough for us."
