The Bible speaks about a day in the future, when the LORD God Almighty will judge the whole world, right from the very beginning – “31 “When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then He will sit on the throne of His glory. 32 All the nations will be gathered before Him, and He will separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides his sheep from the goats.” – Matthew 25:31-32.
Jesus spoke these words in the context of the Parable of Talents. Each of us are given an ability or talent, and the LORD expects us to work hard and improve on it. Helping others in their need is an essential element of this judgement. This is clear from the words of Jesus – “40 And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” – Matthew 25:40.
The point to note, and note it well, is this – helping those in need is in everybody’s hands. It has to be in proportion to the talents given to the person. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL – talents and the abilities are GIVEN to us by God. Secondly, they are given so that we become a blessing to those in need, even as we enjoy those blessings ourselves. Let us bear this in mind.
May the LORD bless us to be a blessing to those in need. A lot is hanging on it.
"The Bible is the authoritative source for knowing God’s heart, his will, and our purpose as Christians. This is true also for how God calls us to serve the poor and those in poverty."
