Being thankful or grateful is a reflection of our heart, and our perspective on life and everything related. The attitude of thankfulness has nothing to do with what we have and how much. In fact, being thankful and grateful does not depend on what we have and how much.
Charles Spurgeon says, “It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.” Our enjoyment of what we have comes because we are content with what we have. When we are content, then our heart overflows with gratitude and thanks.
Someone may ask, “What about the needs that are yet to be met?” Elizabeth Elliot has an answer just for such a question – “God has promised to supply all our needs. What we don’t have now, we don’t need now.”
The Word of God has these words to enlighten us on being thankful and grateful….
“20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”
“O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.” – Ephesians 5:20; Psalms 105:1
As the year comes to an end, let us reflect with thanks and gratitude, about all that the LORD had done for us. Let be thankful and grateful to Him…always.
"4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name."
