The LORD Jesus, preparing the disciples for his ascension and subsequent separation, speaks these words…“26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” – John 14:26
This shows the care and concern of our LORD and our Master. In fact, He says to them – “18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” – John 14:18. He also says, “16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;” – John 14:16
The Greek word used for the Holy Spirit is PARAKLETOS in John 14:26. Eaton’s Bible Dictionary defines “PARAKLETOS” as – “…one who pleads another’s cause, who helps another by defending or comforting him. It is a name given by Christ three times to the Holy Ghost (John 14:16; 15:26; 16:7, where the Greek word is rendered “Comforter,” q.v.)”
Isn’t that wonderful for us to know and realise, that our LORD doesn’t abandon us, but rather, is concerned about us and our welfare, and He does something about it? Let us, therefore, take comfort and courage in the fact, that the LORD is with us. Let us learn to lean upon Him at all times. For He is our Helper and our Comforter. HalleluYah!!!
"The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom so that we can stay on the path that God has for us. If you ever feel confused or alone, remember that Jesus gave us this holy Comforter, the wise Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity."
