Everyone one of us need advice and the counsel, of the experienced people, to make informed and wise decisions. There are times we seem to walk alone, with no regard, nor the inclination to seek the counsel. We seem to be confident, and walk in pride of “knowing everything.” Such an attitude is a slippery road, to say the least, and it will surely lead us to failure and destruction.
The Word of God, which is filled with wisdom from the LORD, has this to advise us. We better pay heed to it – “20 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: 21 She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying…” “23 Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you.” – Proverbs 1:20-21, 23
If we don’t wish to listen to the advise of wisdom, then there are consequences to pay for it – “29 For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: 30 They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. 31 Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices.” – Proverbs 1:29-31
However, if we heed to the wisdom of the LORD, provided for us and walk in its path, there is life and safety – “33 But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” – Proverbs 33
May the LORD help us choose wisely.
"The chief means for attaining wisdom, and suitable gifts for the ministry, are the Holy Scriptures, and prayer."
