Money has strange and powerful influence over human beings, our behaviour, and out life in general. The LORD Jesus, in His wisdom said, “24 “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.” – Matthew 6:24.
Very strange to note that, the LORD uses money, as the alternative choice, that people will choose, instead of the LORD God Almighty. The days in which we are living, displays, more openly than ever, the true power of money. No wonder, the Creator of everything, puts it that way.
The LORD is urging His disciples, including us, living today, in Matthew chapters five to seven, to trust God for everything, and obediently follow Him in all aspects of our lives. This is truly good for us. He further encourages us, not to worry about anything, but to wait upon God, to provide all our needs – “25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing?…33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” – Matthew 6:25,33
What role does money play in our lives? Does money and the need of it, consumes us, and our attention? How do we see money, and its significance in our lives? Some important questions to ponder over. May the LORD help us to trust Him, and obediently follow Him. May we not be overly concerned and worried about anything in life.
"Water is useful to the ship and helps it to sail better to the haven, but let the water get into the ship, if it is not pumped out, it drowns the ship. So riches are useful and convenient for our passage. We sail more comfortably with them through the troubles of this world; but if the water gets into the ship, if love of riches gets into the heart, then we are drowned by them."
