The Word of God has the ability to simply burst our bubble, and bring us crashing down to reality. The intention is not so much to crush and destroy us, but rather, to help us see things as they are. Such a thing is both helpful, and also, healthy for us.
The LORD, speaking about wealth, declares very clearly in Deuteronomy 8:17-18, that the LORD owns it all – “17 And thou say in thine heart, My power and the might of mine hand hath gotten me this wealth. 18 But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.” – Deuteronomy 8:17-18
The LORD further says – ” 19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish.” – Deuteronomy 8:19
Let us also remember Exodus 20:3-4 – “3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:”* The graven image could be *anything and anyone, who is placed over and above the LORD, who is the One, who has graciously given us the time, the ability and opportunity to be where we are. This is the fact of life.
Therefore, let us always worship the LORD like King David – “11 Thine, O LORD, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty: for all that is in the heaven and in the earth is thine; thine is the kingdom, O LORD, and thou art exalted as head above all. 12 Both riches and honour come of thee, and thou reignest over all; and in thine hand is power and might; and in thine hand it is to make great, and to give strength unto all. 13 Now therefore, our God, we thank thee, and praise thy glorious name.” – 1 Chronicles 29:11-13.
Let us always worship the LORD, and Him alone, and not anything or anyone else. For He alone is the LORD, and there is none beside Him!!!
"The Christian idea is this: that God is the absolute owner of all things."
