One of the things, as Christians, we should realise and remember always – we have enemies in this world, and they simply hate us to death. They intensely hate us, and wish to do all that is in their power to disturb, destabilise and destroy us – “12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” – Ephesians 6:12.
This is not because we have hurt or harmed them in any way. They hate us because we belong to the light, and they belong to darkness – “5 You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:5; and the words of Jesus makes it plain and clear – “10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy…” – John 10:10a
We observe in the book of Job, that Satan hates children of God – in this case Job. Satan would go to any lengths, to hurt, to harm and to destroy us. We see this in what happens with Job. The enemy is roaming all over the world, trying his best to trouble the children of God – “…the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.” – Job 1:6
He is also called as our Adversary, Accuser and Opposer of the children of light – “9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?” “1 Then he [God] showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to oppose him.” – Job 1:9, Zechariah 3:1
Praise be to our LORD, we don’t have to fear our enemy and his hoards. He has no power over us, except what the LORD allows. This is clearly evident from Job’s ordeal. The enemy surely has an end, as Word of God informs us – ” 10 Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.” – Revelation 12:10
Therefore, we ought rejoice in the LORD, and not be troubled when the storms hit us, and the enemy tries to destroy us. The LORD has won the victory, and He will ensure our safety and the victory for us. Let us live for the LORD, like Job of old.
"If God were not my friend, Satan would not be so much my enemy."
