Life of David is a rollercoaster, many twists and turns in it. One of the constants in David’s life is, his enemies. He had quite a few of them in his life, and they kept him on his toes, almost his entire life. However, David, with God’s help, defeated all his enemies; at the same time, he also showed generosity, mercy and kindness towards those who stood against him. Though they thought evil, and wanted to hurt and cause harm, but David showed himself to be different.
David could withstand his enemies, and emerge victorious against them, because of one singular factor. David made God his refuge and shelter, and he found his safety and security under the wings of the Almighty.
David looked upon God as his provider and protector. David always trusted God to help him, and deliver him from all his opponents and enemies. Psalm 59:16 makes this amply clear – “16 But I will sing of Your power; Yes, I will sing aloud of Your mercy in the morning; For You have been my defence And refuge in the day of my trouble.”
The LORD God who kept David safe and secure through every kind of situation, is the same God who wishes to stand with us. Let us learn to look to Him for all our needs. Let us learn to lean upon God, and trust Him to keep us safe through thick and thin. He surely will.
"2 The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold." "1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."
