Walking the ‘narrow path’ or the Christian way is not easy. It has its share of ups and downs. Our flesh itself is our biggest enemy. The world, its prince, and the systems on which it runs, are contrary to what the LORD is asking of us. So naturally they hate the Christians. In fact, Jesus says – “18 If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you…” – John 15:18
The apostle Paul, writing to the Corinthian Church, advises them to do something, which is still worthy of following even today – “13 Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. 14 Let all that you do be done with love.” – 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
1- WATCHFUL – alert, conscious – not just seeing but critically analysing what we see, “testing everything” – 1 John 4:1
2- STAND FAST in FAITH – Regardless of what is happening in and around us, we are to hold on to God and His truth. We may not see great many encouraging things, but we have to “Walk by faith, and not by sight.” – 2 Corinthians 5:7
3- BRAVE and STRONG – All of us are afraid, and all of us are scared. Our strength and courage comes from the fact that, the LORD is with us, and He is asking us to walk a certain path, regardless of the consequences – Acts 4:29.
4- LOVE – The Word of God encourages us to do all things in and through love…the love as the LORD Himself has demonstrated towards the sinful world – John 15:12-13.
May the LORD help us…despite our shortcomings and our frailty.
"God is looking for imperfect men and women who have learned to walk in moment-by-moment dependence on the Holy Spirit. Christians who have come to terms with their inadequacies, fears, and failures. Believers who have become discontent with 'surviving' and have taken the time to investigate everything God has to offer in this life."
