The ‘Last Days’ throws up all kinds of people, who claim their allegiance to Christ our LORD, and also all kinds of teachings that are in variance with the written Word of God. One doesn’t need to look too far. Just a cursory glance at the Church today is enough to demonstrate this.
Jesus had said that there will be teachers in the last days, who will teach that which is not in the Bible – “4 And Jesus answered and said to them: “Take heed that no one deceives you. 5 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and will deceive many…11 Then many false prophets will rise up and deceive many…23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.” – Matthew 24:4-5, 11, 23-24
One of the reasons for such increases of false teachers is laid out by Paul in 2 Timothy 4:3-4 – “3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables.”
May the LORD help us to be discerning Christians. May we learn to read the written Word of God – the Bible – and learn to navigate ourselves through these dark and troublesome times. So God help us.
"A time will come when instead of shepherds feeding the sheep, the church will have clowns entertaining the goats."
