We see in the world, a lot of people, thinking they are better than the other, in a condescending manner. Racism, casteism and every other form of discrimination falls into this category.
One of the most significant discriminations is, spiritual superiority. I have encountered some over the course of my life. One lady said quite proudly, that, members of their church denomination would be sitting closer to Jesus in heaven. Some, do not consider Christians from certain denominations as Christians at all. This is one kind of bondage and slavery. Such people were active in Jesus’ time too.
The Word of God declares quite unambiguously through the words of Paul in Romans 3:9-12, that, no one is righteous – “9 What then? Are we Jews any better off? No, not at all. For we have already charged that all, both Jews and Greeks, are under sin, 10 as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; 11 no one understands; no one seeks for God. 12 All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.” None is righteous; all have sinned against God, and are in utter need of His grace and mercy.
Honestly speaking, there is nothing to be proud of our ancestry, nor of our Church affiliations. Such things do not help us in matters with God Almighty. Neither does our knowledge of God, nor do the doctrines of the Church. They will not help a sinner, in any way. They do not have any power to reform us, nor can they regenerate in us, a new life. The quicker we learn this the better it is for us.
The way that the LORD made for the fallen world to be reconciled and reformed is only through our faith in the finished work of the LORD Jesus Christ – “5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.” “30…“Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” 31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” “12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” “8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.” “36 He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.” – John 3:5, Acts 16:30-31, Acts 4:12, Ephesians 2:8-9, John 3:36
May the LORD help us to know the Truth, and as the LORD said, “32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” [John 8:32] Even so LORD, help us!
"It is not thy hold on Christ that saves thee; it is Christ. It is not thy joy in Christ that saves thee; it is Christ. It is not even thy faith in Christ, though that be the instrument; it is Christ's blood and merit."
