The Bible places great importance on being thankful and grateful. It is much more than merely an outlook. It is who we are, that is seen in such a perspective or outlook.
It is not some kind of madness, where the person, in the face of problems and trouble is, praising and thanking God. It may appear to be insanity to others, but it surely is not. It is a reflection of our faith in God, and our trust in His sovereign ability to lead us and guide us through anything and everything.
This is what the LORD says to us through Paul – “16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
1- REJOICE ALWAYS 2- PRAY WITHOUT CEASING 3- IN EVERYTHING GIVE THANKS …the reason being – THIS IS THE WILL OF GOD IN CHRIST JESUS FOR YOU.
Such an outlook is FAITH in ACTION. It is the demonstration of our dependency on God our LORD. It is to tell everyone, that – “1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want…4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalms 23:1, 4
Such an outlook comes when we know the LORD, and know who He is. When we realise the goodness of God, and His love for us, we will naturally place our trust in Him, no matter what is happening around us. When we do so, praise will pour out by itself. We don’t need to make an effort to rejoice, praise and thank God. May the LORD help us to trust God at all times.
"God is in control, and therefore in EVERYTHING I can give thanks - not because of the situation but because of the One who directs and rules over it."
