The Advent of Jesus brought a dramatic change in the world. The people in darkness have seen the Light. This Light transformed the broken relationship between God and man, and restored it. HalleluYah!!! How wonderful it is!
To express this joyful change and transformation, traditionally, five different colours, are normally used for Christmas – Blue, Green, White, Red and Gold. They may or may not have any particular significance in the choice made. May be it is more a choice of vibrant colours, and nothing more. For our meditation this day, let us look at the colour blue.
The colour Blue has multiple dimensions to it. ‘TRUE BLUE’ is an expression that speaks about complete and unquestioned loyalty. Isn’t it appropriate, blue as a colour, to be included to depict Christmas? Christ ought to be given our complete and undiluted loyalty!
Blue skyline indicates of a “clear and beautiful day.” With Christ in our lives, all our days are clear and beautiful. Isn’t it? Don’t you think so? “24 This is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” – Psalms 118:24
Have you heard of the word ‘ROYAL BLUE?’ In medieval times, blue was more expensive than gold. Blue was worn by rich and powerful people. More to indicate their status and their power. Our status in Christ is changed, thanks to the Redeemer. We who once were, dead people walking, with absolutely no hope. Now, we are alive, and a people with a sure hope. All glory to God!!!
All who have accepted the gracious and merciful invitation of the LORD Jesus Christ, are now the royal priesthood – “9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light; 10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.” – 1 Peter 2:9-10
Therefore, let us wear the colour blue, with pride, and uphold its honour and dignity, with utmost respect and sincerity. May the LORD help us to live for His glory, and for the blessing of His people.
"The real evidence for Jesus, and Christianity, is in, how Jesus and the Christianity, based on him, manifest themselves, in the lives of practicing Christians."
