Human beings are social and relational beings. We long for company and companionship – this is our need. Our friendships and relationships enrich and empower us. They make our lives lively and satisfying. This is so very true. Such a life is a great blessing.
As the wise men of old say, “Where we find beautiful roses, there we will also find sharp thorns.” This is the reality of life. Relationships are a necessity. They enrich us, and make our lives lively. But, relationships can be painful, and can hurt us, for all kinds of reasons. This is also a reality in life and our relationships.
Even though relationships hurt, it is not a lost case. We have hope. The LORD, who created us for relationships, also knows the pain of hurting relationships. The Word of God says, “18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” – Psalms 34:18.
We not only get hurt, but can also be the cause for hurting others. This is perfectly possible. This again, is a reality of relationships. Haven’t we hurt the LORD God our Creator, in the garden? Haven’t we continued to hurt Him, ever since? Despite the LORD purchasing our redemption, with His own blood, haven’t we, as His followers and disciples, disappointed and hurt Him many times, since then? The LORD understands the problems, and He knows how to help us.
The LORD knows it all. The Bible says – “15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:15-16. HalleluYah!!!
"A bird with a broken wing, an animal with a broken leg, a woman with a broken heart, a man with a broken purpose in life – these seem to drop out of the main current of life into shadow. They go apart to suffer and droop. The busy rush of life goes on without them. But God draws nigh."
