Money works…and works wonders. To make money work is not a simple task. It requires skill. Not everyone can work wonders. Otherwise, everyone would be rich and prosperous. It requires diligence, forethought, wisdom, patience and hard work to make money work.
Christians should make money work wonders for the kingdom of God. However, we ought to remember always – we should not work for money, nor take pride in it. We should not become slaves of money. We should not be enslaved by money, because of its enormous ability and power. “23 Thus says the LORD: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, Let not the mighty man glory in his might, Nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 But let him who glories glory in this, That he understands and knows Me…” – Jeremiah 9:23-25
We should use the money, whatever that LORD has blessed us with, with gratitude and thankfulness, for the kingdom of God, for the needs of His people, and for the needs of the poor. The Bible exhorts us, “17 Command those who are rich in this present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy. 18 Let them do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to give, willing to share, 19 storing up for themselves a good foundation for the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.” – 1 Timothy 6:17-19
May the LORD help us to be good stewards of the many blessings, God our LORD has blessed us with. May we be found faithful servants, and men of integrity, in all things that are entrusted to us. Even so the LORD help us.
"Water is useful to the ship and helps it to sail better to the haven, but let the water get into the ship, if it is not pumped out, it drowns the ship. So riches are useful and convenient for our passage. We sail more comfortably with them through the troubles of this world; but if the water gets into the ship, if love of riches gets into the heart, then we are drowned by them."
