The world as we know it today, is a world so different from how it was envisioned by our Creator. Man, as the days and years pass by, is becoming more unapologetic, in living, how he thinks deep within. We are now living in a world, where shame, regret, wrong, sin and bad are brushed aside. The point is – “This is what I like…if you don’t like it, then, it is your problem, not mine.”
As Christians, it is not easy to live in such a world. However, that is precisely the reason, why God wants us to be the salt and the light, on the earth. To hold dear to our hearts, what the LORD taught us, and wants from us; and live it out in obedience to God, is what is expected from us.
The fourth stanza of the hymn, “THE OLD RUGGED CROSS” should inspire us to live for God, and make it the most important point, on the list for our life.
“To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me someday to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.”
Therefore, Let us ever be true to the old rugged cross. Let us bear its shame and reproach, gladly. Let us be mindful that, we are journeying through this world. Let us remember that, this world is not our permanent abode. Someday, our LORD will call us home, and we will be with our LORD, forever, in His glory. What a glorious day that would be!!! HalleluYah!!!
"Life is wasted if we do not grasp the glory of the cross, cherish it for the treasure that it is, and cleave to it as the highest price of every pleasure and the deepest comfort in every pain. What was once foolishness to us—a crucified God—must become our wisdom and our power and our only boast in this world."
