Most homes, in the first week of each new month, prepare a list of things to buy. I have seen it in my home. It is a good way to get a perspective, and plan and prepare accordingly, in the light of their financial situation, for that month. I have seen my mother do it. There are times, when some items on the list were struck off, due to, not so great a financial situation. It is normal in most of our homes.
Today is 1st of April, do we have a list prepared? Not about groceries, but about the goodness and the grace of God, that was showered upon us, even though we deserve nothing. Do we know what we need to pray for? Is our list of PRAISE and PRAYER ready?
David writing in Psalm 103:1-5, gives us some insight and suggestions for our list. We can consider it as a suggestion…then build on it…our own personal list.
“1 Bless the LORD, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases,
4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.” – Psalm 103:1-5
Paul, writing to the early church at Philippi, urges them – “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7.
Therefore, let us take a pen and a paper, and prepare our list of items to PRAISE and PRAY for, during this new month. It works wonders in shaping us and our lives. The LORD is waiting to hear from His dear children. Let us get started.
