Imagine, we are in the midst of a thick and severe storm, and suddenly we find a Person, who knows how to get us out of it all; and that, He is standing right beside us, and willing to help and rescue us. What would be going through our minds and hearts? I would say, indescribable joy, mixed with great relief, and the lifting of all the pent-up pressure and anxiety. Just cannot describe the feeling, isn’t it?
Many times we seem to be searching for our help, everywhere, except going to the LORD. Have you experienced such a situation? I did quite a few times…sadly. We have no greater help than our LORD Jesus Christ…the Shepherd of our soul…out Great High Priest. The Word of God clearly states for our benefit – “14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:14-16
Similar thoughts are expressed by Joseph M. Scriven, in the second stanza of the beautiful hymn, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus”
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged,
Take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness,Take it to the Lord in prayer.
May we learn to always look to the LORD in times of need. May we always seek shelter under His almighty wings at all times. Jesus knows it all. He is also, willing to help us. Let us take, whatever it is, that is troubling us, to the LORD.
"Here is what I know to be true: messed up men will often panic and try to control the chaos. Waiting [on God] is one of the hardest spiritual disciplines. Waiting [upon the LORD] is spelled T-R-U-S-T.""
