Whenever we are invited to meet a king or someone from the royal family, or some important, famous, powerful or rich person, we will ensure to be there properly dressed, and in our best behaviour. I don’t think anyone would go there casually and in regular work clothes. That would be embarrassing to us, and an insult to the person who had invited us. Is it not so?
How would God, the Almighty Creator expects us to present ourselves before Him? God wants us to come just as we are. He wants us to come to Him, displaying all our flaws and shortcomings. He expects us to be truthful and transparent, when we come visiting Him. Is it not a great relief, to come before the God of all creation, just as we are, and not pretend to be who we are not?
“Just as I am, thou wilt receive,
wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
because thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.”
The LORD Jesus extends this invitation, to come to Him, just as we are, to all who are weary and down – “28 Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
What an amazing invitation!!! What would be our response to this invitation? Do not think twice. The LORD truly cares for us, our welfare, and our well-being. He alone has a solution, that can help us live a meaningful and purposeful life. Would you care to give all that is troubling you, to the LORD who is calling us? I would, happily…how about you?
"Just as I am, without one plea, but that thy blood was shed for me, and that thou bidd'st me come to thee, O Lamb of God, I come, I come."
