Monday, is the first day of the work week. Some may eagerly look forward to it. Some others may be dreading because of it. For us, as Christians, work is an important aspect of our life and faith. It is not only how we work, that is important, but also, since work itself is God given, therefore, when we work, we are working for God, and thereby honouring Him, through our work. What a radical and revolutionary perspective!!!
Let us see what the LORD has to say to us, on this subject of a Christian worker or a Christian employee…
– “The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” – Genesis 2:15
– “Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.” – Colossians 3:23-24
Martin Luther, the great reformer, speaking about Christians employees, and our attitude towards work, says…
– “The Christian shoemaker does his duty not by putting little crosses on the shoes, but by making good shoes, because God is interested in good craftsmanship.”
How is our approach to the work that God has entrusted to our care? What is our attitude towards our work? What kind of effort are we putting in, while discharging our duties? Do we earn our salary by integrity, hard-work, discipline and commitment? May the LORD help us to be good workers for His glory.
"The test of the artist does not lie in the will with which he goes to work, but in the excellence of the work he produces.""
