The Christian is entrusted by our LORD and Saviour with this great responsibility of proclaiming the gospel. The gospel is at the heart of all what the LORD God Almighty had done for the fallen human beings. Gospel is a reflection of God’s love for us, in so much that He chose to buy our freedom with His own blood.
– “16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. 18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” – John 3:16-18
– “18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.” – Matthew 28:18-20
We are called to be God’s witnesses and ambassadors, to proclaim “the good news of great joy” – Luke 2:10-11. The same was passionately practiced by William Carey and his friends, by printing gospel tracts. One such tract had come into the hands of Pitambara Singha. Having read about salvation, in that Baptist tract, printed at Serampore, around late 1700’s, he immediately visited the mission, to learn more about Jesus Christ. Pitambara Singha becomes a faithful convert, Christian author, and an evangelist for the very same gospel of the LORD Jesus Christ.
May we never forget this great responsibility, of proclaiming the gospel of good news, entrusted to us. May we be found faithful to our LORD always. Even so, the LORD help us.
"For, after our Lord rose from the dead, [the apostles] were invested with power from on high when the Holy Spirit came down [upon them], were filled from all [His gifts], and had perfect knowledge: they departed to the ends of the earth, preaching the glad tidings of the good things [sent] from God to us, and proclaiming the peace of heaven to men, who indeed do all equally and individually possess the Gospel of God."
