To be a disciple of Christ, one needs to have guts to stand for our Redeemer. Many a Christian fails, because they are unwilling, to lay it all at the altar, and follow the LORD, fully and faithfully. It is not an easy asking, but there is no other way, if we wish to be the disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ. We are called to lay our everything, at the feet of Jesus, if we desire to be a faithful disciple of the LORD.
Laying everything at the altar of God, is not just the material things, but much more than that, our ego and our pride. We are called to fully embrace the gospel and obediently and faithfully follow the LORD in all that He is asking of us. This is being a disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Let us read from the Bible, all what the LORD had to say, to all those who desired to follow Him.
– “23 Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me.” – Luke 9:23
– “18 My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth.” – 1 John 3:18
– “16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” – Matthew 5:16
Our actions reflect our faith. Our actions reflect our obedience to all what the LORD is demanding from us, as His disciples. Just as the saying goes, “Actions speak louder than words” – so also the walk of the disciple, as against our words. Let us read about James Evans [1891-1846] who served as a missionary to Native Canadian Indians. Once he accidentally shoots a Native Indian Christian. Friends and well-wishers urged him to flee, for it means death. Evans, was terribly sad at this tragic and unintentional accident, and declined to run-away. So he went in search of that man’s family. After locating the man’s family, he explained to them, what had happened, and he offered himself to be adopted in that man’s place. The mother of the Native Indian Christian was impressed, that a white man, would care about the feelings of a Native Indian family. She then lets James live; for the “justice” would require as a “fair” punishment, life for life. As a concerned Christian, and one who caused such irreplaceable damage, James Evans willingly shared his income, with the mother, for the rest of his life. This is being a real Christian. This is being a true disciple of the LORD Jesus Christ. Remember the transformation of Zacchaeus, the sinful tax collector? How about us?
"Your actions will speak much louder than any words you will ever say. It is very important that as Christians, we follow the example of Jesus Christ. It doesn’t matter where we are or who we are with. The words we speak and the things we do should always reflect our faith."
