If ever there is someone, who deserves praise, glory and honour, it is the LORD God Almighty, the God of all creation, the One who died for the sins of the whole world, and to rescue the fallen human beings. YAHWEH not only created us, but chose to redeem us, by offering Himself as our redemptive sacrifice. Isn’t that amazing and wonderful to think about? Yes, it is!!! Therefore, God of the Bible alone, is worthy of all praise, glory and honour.
– “6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down; Let us kneel before the LORD our Maker. 7 For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand…:”* – Psalm 95:6-7
One of the most enduring hymns in English language, “O WORSHIP THE KING ALL-GLORIOUS ABOVE” was written by Robert Grant of Scottish ancestry, [born in Bengal, India, in 1779; died in Dalpoorie, India, in 1838] in 1833. He beautifully penned, this hymn in praise of God the Almighty, like only a very few can.
– “O worship the King all-glorious above,” “O gratefully sing his power and his love:” “our shield and defender, the Ancient of Days,” “pavilioned in splendour and girded with praise.”
Robert Grant has very close connection with India, apart from his birth and his death. His father was one of the directors of the East India Company. He had a distinguished public career in India, as the Governor of Bombay, and also as a member of the British Parliament.
This Sunday morning as we prepare to go to Church, what thoughts are running across our minds? What are we thinking about? Are they of gratitude, thankfulness, awe, wonder and worship of the Almighty God? Oh my brother and sister, what is the worth of our lives, if we are not in awe of God, and spend all our time and energy, thanking and worshiping God, our Creator and Redeemer? Even as we enter into the LORD’s Day, may we meditate upon our God, and our Father, who loves us unconditionally, and immeasurably. Oh the love of God towards us, may it lead us to love Him even more. Even so the LORD help us.
"O measureless Might, unchangeable Love, whom angels delight to worship above! Your ransomed creation, with glory ablaze, in true adoration shall sing to your praise!"
