Life and all its challenges, can at times be, overwhelming and discomforting. It can make us paralysed, in our hearts, and our minds. Many times, people are so terrified because of the challenging times, that they simply can’t move forward, as if, they got stuck with the strongest of glues. Does this situation sound familiar to us?
How about us as Christians? How should we respond to similar situations? What is the primary difference between, the people of God, and the people of the world? It is the LORD our God who is the difference! The LORD, as He has promised, will walk with us, and will help us walk through all situations, safely, because, He is our Shepherd – Psalm 23. Therefore, it becomes His responsibility, as our Shepherd, to take care of us.
The apostle Paul, writing to the young Church at Philippi, encourages them, not to be anxious about anything, and not worry about life, and all its struggles, if any. He encourages them to look to God, and trust in His goodness, because, it is His responsibility, to keep us safe and sound.
– “6 being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” – Philippians 1:6
Charles H. Spurgeon, speaking about the way, God works in our lives, in the context of our struggles and challenges, has these meaningful words of insight, for our benefit.
– “The work of grace has its root in the divine goodness of the Father, it is planted by the self-denying goodness of the Son, and it is daily watered by the goodness of the Holy Sprit; it springs from good and leads to good, and so is altogether good.” – Charles H. Spurgeon
The Word of God, further encourages us, to get a deeper and firmer understanding about, who God is, and what He does for us, His children, whom He has redeemed, with His own precious blood. God cares for us, and would walk with us faithfully, till the end. HalleluYah!!!
– “7 Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me. 8 The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.” – Psalms 138:7-8
– “23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.” – 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Dear friends, brothers and sisters, firstly, let us never ever forget that, God is our confidence, and not our own ability, talents, intelligence and strengths. Even though they are all good, and necessary for our life, as a Christian, they cannot, and will not, help us through life, and all its challenges. Secondly, let us always remember that, God is not in the habit of leaving His work, half done. He is not in the habit of abandoning His work, mid-way. God will bring to completion, all that He undertakes. This is what I gain from reading the Bible, and through my personal experience. Therefore, let us learn to seek God, and learn to lean upon Him, for a meaningful, purposeful and fruitful Christian walk. Even so the LORD help us.
"Where is there an instance of God’s beginning any work and leaving it incomplete? Show me for once a world abandoned and thrown aside half formed; show me a universe cast off from the Great Potter’s wheel, with the design in outline, the clay half hardened, and the form unshapely from incompleteness."
