A Christian’s walk with the LORD is, not a stroll in the park. Many times, we form a misguided opinion about this walk, that our LORD has called us to, as His disciples. We are “sold” a version of Christianity, that is not fully in line with the Scriptures. Haven’t we heard – “Come to Jesus, all your problems will be solved.” Is that so? Wish it were so.
– “Our trusting the Lord does not mean that there are not times of tears. I think it is a mistake as Christians to act as though trusting the Lord and tears are not compatible.” – Francis A. Schaeffer
Let us read the words of David, from Psalm 22, where he talks about our suffering, and the reasons for us to, praise God, despite the situation. This is a very honest and realistic Psalm, just like the rest of the Word of God. It helps us to come to a realistic conclusion, which in turn, helps us to have a realistic faith.
– “24 For He has not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; Nor has He hidden His face from Him; But when He cried to Him, He heard.” – Psalm 22:24
David clearly mentions that there is affliction. However, he balances truthfully, with his sound insight into God’s nature and virtues – that God does not despise, nor abhor, the child of God, nor their affliction. Neither does God hide His face from His children, and their suffering. Instead, God not only hears our cry of pain, anguish, but also, He surely helps us, through it all. Sometimes God removes the problem. Sometimes removes us from the problem. Sometimes God walks us through the problem. In any of these scenarios, God is always with us.
Yes, WE ARE NEVER ALONE, whatever may be our situation, and whatever way the LORD may choose to help us. As Christians, we should focus on this truth that, God is with us, and that, He never abandons His children, no matter how we feel, and how it may appear, to our finite eyes.
May we always learn to trust God and His Word, and walk our journey, with faith and obedience, no matter what happens, and how things may appear to our eyes. Even so the LORD help us.
"Those who believe they believe in God but without passion in the heart, without anguish of mind, without uncertainty, without doubt, and even at times without despair, believe only in the idea of God, and not in God himself."
