May 8 is celebrated as Victory Day in Europe. It is to commemorate the defeat of Nazi Germany, in the “Second World War” as referred to, in Western Europe. Honestly, speaking, the world had no hand in it, but for a handful of nations in Western Europe, who for the reasons to continue their colonial empire of control and domination, over the rest of the world, fought with each other. It is scandalous to call it World War, when the majority of the world had nothing to do with anything about the two wars fought in Europe – July 28, 1914 to November 11, 1918, and September 1, 1939 to September 2, 1945.
All wars, as the Bible says, and rightly so, comes from the greed, lust and evil desire to want and to continue to their unrestricted want for power, control and domination.
– “1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? 2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.” – James 4:1-2
The Bible insightfully informs us that the root of all the problems the world is facing is because of man’s heart. Heart of man, is where all the problems are.
– “5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” – Genesis 6:5
– “9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? 10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.” – Jeremiah 17:9-10
– “3 This is an evil in all that is done under the sun: that one thing happens to all. Truly the hearts of the sons of men are full of evil; madness is in their hearts while they live, and after that they go to the dead.” – Ecclesiastes 9:3
– “19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. 20 These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.” – Matthew 15:19
Now, in 2025, almost a eighty years since the end of the second Great War, we are seeing the clouds of war and destruction gathering. This time the powers that list for control and domination of everyone else, wants to truly make it a World War. Man never seems to learn anything from the past, just as the, “leopard cannot change its spots.” The desperately wicked heart of man, is once again, on warmongering path. Sadly, many who are called “Christians” seems to be active in such ideas. May the LORD save us.
– “For 1700 years the early Church’s clear teaching on violence, kingdom allegiance, and extending love to enemies has been pushed aside and [today, it is] seldom heard.” – Jason Porterfield
– “Only without the sword can the Christian wage war: the Lord has abolished the sword.” – Tertullian (160AD – 220AD)
– “Above all Christians are not allowed to correct by violence sinful wrongdoings.” – Clement of Alexandria (150AD – 214AD)
Let us, as the disciples of the LORD Jesus Christ, desire and decide to walk in His ways. He has shown us the path, and wants us to walk on it. May we learn to do, what the LORD wants from us. Even so the LORD help us.
"To those who ask us whence we have come or whom we have for a leader, we say that we have come in accordance with the counsels of Jesus to cut down our warlike and arrogant swords of argument into ploughshares, and we convert into sickles the spears we formerly used in fighting. For we no longer take ‘sword against a nation,’ nor do we learn ‘any more to make war,’ having become sons of peace for the sake of Jesus, who is our leader, instead of following the ancestral customs in which we were strangers to the covenants."
