Let us look at, the words of David, as found in Psalm 37:18-19. In these few short words, of these two verses, David gives us a great insight into who our God is, and His heart.
– “18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.” – Psalm 37:18-19
For our meditation this morning let us read just the first part of verse eighteen.
– “18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright…”
In these eight words we see the Omniscience of the LORD God Almighty, our Creator, and our Redeemer. God knows, not only “the days of the upright” meaning, all the days of His children, but on a larger scale we see, that God knows everything about everything and everyone. Is it not comforting to know and realise that, our LORD knows everything? It sure is.
We don’t have to explain ourselves, our situations, and the intricacies of all what is happening in our lives. God already knows it, and knows it fully and completely. We may not know all what is happening in our lives; we may not understand why it is happening – but God knows it all. It surely is comforting and a great relief!!!
– “26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. 28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:26-28
Let this thought, that our God is Omniscient, help us to trust God, and be assured of His grace and mercy, to guide us, and to lead us, for His glory. God will take care of everything, we just need to trust Him, and obey Him in all what He is asking of us. God will not let us down! He will not let us be put to shame! God will never abandon us! Therefore, let us TRUST HIM with all our hearts, and OBEY HIM with all our hearts. Even so, the LORD help us.
– “18 The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever. 19 They shall not be ashamed in the evil time: and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.” – Psalm 37:18-19
"'The LORD knows the days of the blameless' - ...emphasizes God's omniscience and intimate involvement in the lives of the righteous. The term "blameless" [upright] refers to those who live in integrity and righteousness, aligning with God's will. In biblical context, being blameless does not imply sinlessness but rather a sincere devotion to God, as seen in figures like Noah (Genesis 6:9) and Job (Job 1:1). The assurance that God "knows" their days suggests His providential care and guidance, echoing the sentiment found in Psalm 139:1-4, where God's knowledge of our lives is comprehensive and personal. This divine awareness assures believers that their lives are under God's sovereign control, providing comfort and security."
