If we were to choose just one thing in our life, and nothing else, “WHAT WOULD IT BE?” If this one thing that we would choose, were to reflect all who we are, and all what we desire in life, then, “WHAT WOULD IT BE?” David made such a choice in his life. May be he can shed some light, to help us make up our heart and mind, if we haven’t already.
– “4 One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.”* – Psalm 27:4
The above desire of David, speaks of his heart, and what it desires the most. David makes it abundantly clear, as to what he desires with all his hear. What we desire the most in life, is what holds the key to everything else, in our lives. It gives a glimpse into what we are possessed with. It is a reflection, not only of our hearts, and its desires, but in fact, it is a true reflection who we actually are.
What about us? If we were to simplify our desires in life to just one thing, “WHAT WOULD IT BE?” Honestly speaking, would God our LORD, be in the first position in our lives? For if we give God any other place, other than the first, then we are not a keen Christian, but rather, someone who happens to be a Christian for whatever reason best known to us, but certainly not a serious Christian. Where do we stand?
"...the proper study of God’s elect is God; the proper study of a Christian is the Godhead. The highest science, the loftiest speculation, the mightiest philosophy, which can ever engage the attention of a child of God, is the name, the nature, the person, the work, the doings, and the existence of the great God whom he calls his Father."
