The goal of our life reveals the reason for our lives. It speaks about…
What is it that is the most important thing in our lives.
What is it that is above all the things that matter to us?
What is it, for which, we are willing forego everything?
What is it, that in gaining it, gives us the greatest joy?
What is it, without which, you would rather die, than live?
Can we put that on paper?
Can we name it?
Do you know it?
Many come to the Church with a “”grocery”” list. For they are perennially pre-occupied with their needs and necessities. “”Material”” needs, “”Health”” needs and “”Security for the Future.”” For them, God is a means to an end. Not an end in itself.
Sorry my friends, the people who followed God in the Bible, speak a different story. “”And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:”” – Hebrews 11:36-39
For the heroes of Hebrews 11 – the Roll of Honour – GOD was not only the number one in their lives, God was everything to them. Mind you, they followed Jesus not because they had a need. The record of the Bible is clear.
What about you? Make your choice today my friend. If God is not the number one in your life, that is no life at all. For, He is Life!
