As Christians, walking on our journey in life, we will surely encounter various sorts of situations. Sometimes, things go well for us; at other times, they may not go well for us. At times, the sun may brightly shine upon our way; at other times, it may be cloudy, with no sunshine at all. There may be times, when we would have to pass through dark and dreary days, with no hope of any sunlight in the near future.
People whom we trusted, may betray our trust. Some may deceive us, with sweet words. Some others may desire to cause harm, and destruction, for little or no fault of ours. These are some situations that one would encounter in life. As a Christian, we are called to walk uprightly, and not follow the world nor its ways. How then will we face such situations? Who will protect us, when we walk such a vulnerable path, as a Christian?
Christian principles, that we are called upon to walk, in our lives, make us vulnerable to hurts and harm. If we remember, who it is that called us, to walk such a path, then, we will not find our situation helpless and hopeless. Let us read what David said in Psalm 9:9-10, which I am sure will enlighten us, on the subject we are considering.
– “9 The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble. 10 And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.” – Psalm 9:9-10
1- The One who called us to walk, a principled life, as a Christian, is the One, who will walk with us, and will uphold us from falling and failing. – Isaiah 43:1-5
2- The LORD also will be a refuge for the oppressed.
3- A sure help and a sure refuge, in times of trouble.
4- They that know the name of the LORD, will put their trust in God.
5- For the LORD, has not, and will not, forsake any of them, that seek Him.
When it is the LORD, who is our refuge, and a sure help, in times to trouble, then why fear anything or anyone? Would not God, take care of all our safety and security, when it is He who called us, in the first place? Therefore, let us not worry about anything in life. Rather, let us learn to trust God, and obey Him. As the good old hymn says…
– When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word. What a glory He sheds on our way! While we do His good will, He abides with us still. And with all who will trust and obey.
– Trust and obey, for there’s no other way. To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
– Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies. But His smile quickly drives it away. Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear. Can abide while we trust and obey.
Let us never forget that, God is our refuge, always. Let us always remember, to trust and obey the LORD. There is nothing better than this, for a Christian, desiring to walk in God’s ways. Do not look at all what is happening around us. It may well be a storm. It may be scary too. Let us learn to look to the LORD, and walk by faith, in all obedience. He will take care of everything. Even so, the LORD help us.
"His people may, by faith, flee to him as their Refuge, and may depend on his power and promise for their safety, so that no real hurt shall be done to them. Those who know him to be a God of truth and faithfulness, will rejoice in his word of promise, and rest upon that. Those who know him to be an everlasting Father, will trust him with their souls as their main care, and trust in him at all times, even to the end; and by constant care seek to approve themselves to him in the whole course of their lives. Who is there that would not seek him, who never hath forsaken those that seek Him?"
