When we look around on the earth, and beyond, we are struck with awe and wonder, by the sheer grandness and the magnitude of the creation. It is simply mindboggling to see all that the LORD had created, beginning with human beings. Small wonder then that, the author of Psalm 104, pens such amazing words, in praise of the Creator, and the wonders of creation. It is apt that the Psalm is titled – “Praise to the Sovereign LORD for His Creation and Providence.”
– “24 O LORD, how manifold are thy works! in wisdom hast thou made them all: the earth is full of thy riches.” – Psalm 104:24
Have we ever ventured to look around us? Do we see all the wonders that are around us? Are we awe struck, when we see all the amazing things within us, as human beings? Are we amazed at all the grandness of the creation? Do they make us think about our God, the One who created all these things? Do we not see the power of God, and His greatness, in all what He had created? Does it not tell us about the infiniteness, and the unfathomableness of God of the Bible? Does praise come to our lips, when we see, all what the God Almighty had created?
– “5 Many, O LORD my God, are Your wonderful works Which You have done; And Your thoughts toward us Cannot be recounted to You in order; If I would declare and speak of them, They are more than can be numbered.” – Psalm 40:5
– *”31 Oh, that men would give thanks to the LORD for His goodness, And for His wonderful works to the children of men! 32 Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, And praise Him in the company of the elders.” – Psalm 107:31-32
– *’3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him?” – Psalm 8:3-4
Dear brothers and sisters, let us not only look at the bigness and the greatness of our God, but also, the finiteness and the smallness of ourselves. May this balance, that keeps our feet firmly on the ground, help us in our walk with the LORD. May we not be fools, in counting ourselves as people of some innate greatness, as is the case, with many these days. It God, and God alone, who is great, and worthy of all our attention, praise and worship.
– “11 “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honour and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.” – Revelation 4:11
Therefore, let us return to the true biblical perspective of God and man, realising that, we are but dust, and God is the indescribable One – our Creator, Redeemer and the LORD. Even so, the LORD help us, to walk worthy of His glorious and majestic name, in our thoughts, words and deeds, with humility in our hearts, His praise on our lips, and His worship as our chief end.
"With the naked eye, one can see about 5,000 stars. With a four-inch telescope, one can see about 2 million stars. With a 200-inch mirror of a great observatory, one can see more than a billion stars. The universe is so big that if one were to travel at the speed of light, it would take 40 billion years to reach the edge of the universe. Considering the heavens makes us see the greatness of God."
