Trust is such a precious thing. Once trust is broken, it is difficult to trust that person again. This is the reality of life. There are some who use all kinds of trickery to cheat and manipulate, and people seem to trust such people, without questions. This is also a reality that we see among human beings.
Now to the question we are meditating for this morning – “WHY SHOULD WE TRUST JESUS ALONE?” This is my experience, and the experience of countless others in this world – the God of the Bible is absolutely trust worthy. We can trust God because, He is absolutely faithful. Is it not comforting to know that, God is faithful and trustworthy? It sure is!
– “22 Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.” – Lamentations 3:22-23
I like the Telugu translation of verse 23, which has a richness that the English translations doesn’t seem to have it.
– “అనుదినము నూతనముగా ఆయనకు వాత్సల్యత పుట్టుచున్నది నీవు ఎంతైన నమ్మదగినవాడవు.”
The words “నీవు ఎంతైన నమ్మదగినవాడవు” [“Great is Your faithfulness”] – is difficult to translate into English. Probably it is so in other languages too. It means – “You can be trusted with anything, and to any extent.” God is so so trustworthy and faithful that, we can trust Him with anything, and He will show Himself to be absolutely trustworthy, and nothing else. There is not a shadow of untrustworthiness in Him. HalleluYah!!!
Let us look at few more Scripture portions to know what our LORD had done for us. This demonstrates that God is good, gracious, merciful, trustworthy and faithful – నీవు ఎంతైన నమ్మదగినవాడవు!!!
1- HE GIVES HIS OWN LIFE FOR THE WELFARE AND THE WELLBEING OF HIS SHEEP
– “11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” – John 10:11
2- HE HAS COME TO GIVE LIFE, AND GIVE IT ABUNDANTLY
– “10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” – John 10:10
3- GOD RESCUED US FROM THE CLUTCHES OF THE PRINCE OF THE POWER OF THE AIR, AND SET US FREE
– “1 And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, 2 in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience,” – Ephesians 2:1-2
There is no one like Jesus. None can be compared to the God of the Bible. He truly cares for us, and for our welfare. Let us learn to trust Him at all times, and walk in obedience and faith, on the path He is calling us to walk. For this is the best thing we can do. Even so, the LORD help us.
"We trust as we love, and where we love. If we love Christ much, surely we shall trust him much."
