All what we have is not our own, but it is the gift of God, graciously given to us. We are not the owners ourselves, even though they are our “own” – in the sense that we possess them. It is a gift entrusted to us, like the servants in the Parable of Talents, who were given talents according to their own ability. We are merely stewards of what is given to us, and God is the rightful and the only owner of all things. Therefore we ought to praise Him and ever be grateful to God for all the blessings He has bestowed us with.
Let us read what the LORD has to say on this subject of “who owns what” in His written Word, the Bible.
– “(David prayed to God) 13 Now, our God, we give you thanks, and praise your glorious name. 14 “But who am I, and who are my people, that we should be able to give as generously as this? Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand.” – 1 Chronicles 29:13-14
– “14 To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.” – Deuteronomy 10:14
– “11 Everything in heaven and earth is Yours, O LORD. Wealth and honor come from you; you are the ruler of all things. In your hands are strength and power to exalt and give strength to all.” – 1 Chronicles 29:11-12
– “18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.” – Deuteronomy 8:18
“…God’s generosity to us by allowing us to be His managers, or stewards, is woven through the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and is as solid as the Bible itself. There are…many verses to…establish God’s sovereignty and ownership over everything. It starts with creation itself and the very fact that God made everything and then put mankind over His creation.” says John Campbell, in his article, “It All Belongs to God.”
– “I believe the most dangerous misconception is the idea our money and possessions belong to us, not God. Many of our problems begin when we forget that God is the Boss of the universe. But, in fact, He is more than the boss; He is the owner.” – Randy Alcorn
Let us have no illusions about what God gave us, which we may erroneously believe it to be ours, as the owners of it all. Having established this, let us realise that, if everything belongs to God, then we should be praising Him for His love, kindness and generosity towards us. Therefore, we should be singing praises to our God.
– “11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” – Revelation 4:11
– “16 For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.” – Colossians 1:16
– “26 for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.” – 1 Corinthians 10:26
May we never ever forget that it is because of God that we have all what we have. It is given to us by God lovingly and graciously. May we always be thankful and grateful to Him. May we, all.thr days of our lives, sing praises to our God, for all He has blessed us with.
"As someone who wants to grow in my relationship with God, it’s good for me to be reminded how far above me God is. Understanding the greatness and holiness and power of God helps me realize my place as someone who is completely dependent on him. I know that in this life, I won’t ever really be able to wrap my brain around the entirety of who God is. But even this small glimpse into God’s appearance and character brings me to a place of worship."
