The LORD our God, the One who is gracious, merciful and kind has made a provision in and through the LORD Jesus Christ, that despite our sin and our rebellion, He makes it possible for us to come seek the HIM for help. This is why Paul, writing to the early Christians at Philippi, says these precious words…
– “6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
As we continue our study of Philippians 4:6-7, let us look at the fifth lesson – “…LET YOUR REQUESTS BE MADE KNOWN TO GOD…” – that we can learn from the above verses. Here under are a few insights that we can learn…
– The LORD Jesus, the God Almighty, is keenly interested in knowing our needs.
– God invites us bring to Him all that is troubling us.
– This invitation of God speaks about His heart, His care, and His concern for us, and our welfare…however big or small, terribly troubling or totally trivial, our problems might be.
– Hence, we can come before God, just as we are, even with sin stained hands, without any fear of the righteous consuming fire from God, destroying us.
– We can approach the LORD God Almighty without any hesitation or fear.
– We can approach at any time without any restrictions.
– We don’t need any ritualist cleansing or purification to come before God.
– We can approach without any external help from anyone – a priest or a pastor…though their wise counsel is always of help.
The LORD has spoken through His written Word, to help us know His heart. Let us look at some Scriptures to broaden and deepen our understanding about God.
– “5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, 6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,” – 1 Timothy 2:5-6
– “16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” – Hebrews 4:16
– “18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.” – Ephesians 2:18
Oh what a relieving joy it is to know that, we can approach the Most High God, who is Holy and all consuming fire, without any fear or restrictions. This does not mean God has lowered His righteous standards. This does not mean God does not care anymore for sin. This does not mean that God does not take sin seriously, anymore.
On the contrary, the LORD God Almighty, who is our Redeemer, upholds all what He had said in the past. He does not change His just and righteous standards for anyone. Remember, He is the same yesterday, today and forever – Hebrews 13:8. He is the same unchanging God. When God looks at us today, He sees us through the blood of the LORD Jesus Christ, that is shed abroad for us. This blood of the Lamb of God covers us, and all our sin, and makes us acceptable in the sight of God. It is only because of the blood of the LORD Jesus that covers us, that we are not consumed by the holy fire from the presents of the Almighty God.
– “13 For if the blood of bulls and goats and the ashes of a heifer, sprinkling the unclean, sanctifies for the purifying of the flesh, 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without spot to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? 15 And for this reason He is the Mediator of the new covenant, by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions under the first covenant, that those who are called may receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.” – Hebrews 9:13-15
– “19 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20 by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh, 21 and having a High Priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.” – Hebrews 10:19-22
Thank You LORD Jesus, the eternal Lamb of God, for shedding Your precious and priceless blood for us. The Redeemer, and His sinless sacrifice is the reason, for this great privilege and honour this day, that we can come into the holy presence of the righteous God, and not be consumed because of our sin. Thank You LORD, a million times and more. HalleluYah!!!
"let your requests be made known unto God—with generous, filial, unreserved confidence; not keeping aught back, as too great, or else too small, to bring before God, though you might feel so as to your fellow men."
