Evil men grow very quick, because the world is the domain of Lucifer, the most evil one of all. His blessings and his power would back all those who desire to walk the evil way, and worship him by any means, as long as we don’t worship the LORD Jesus, with our heart, soul and mind. Hasn’t Satan promised to give to our LORD, all the world and its kingdoms, if only the LORD Jesus would fall down at his feet, and worshipped him?
– “5 Then the devil, taking Him up on a high mountain, showed Him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 And the devil said to Him, “All this authority I will give You, and their glory; for this has been delivered to me, and I give it to whomever I wish. 7 Therefore, if You will worship before me, all will be Yours.” – Luke 4:5-7
– “9 And he [the devil] said to Him, “All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me.” – Matthew 4:9
Walking the evil way, however good and alluring it might appear, and actually be in one sense, is wrong, and it is evil to the very core. By walking the paths of evil, we become evil ourselves because, we are then the willing and eager conduits of Satan. By giving us what we want, he gets what he wants. Being envious of the evil person, is nothing but desiring the delicacies which the god of this world offers, and wanting them with all our hearts.
This is the reason why David writes these words in Psalm 37. They should enlighten us about what we should not fret about, and what we should never envy or desire.
– “1 Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, And wither as the green herb.” – Psalm 37:1-2
This morning let us look at verse two, and see what we can learn – “FOR THEY SHALL SOON BE CUT DOWN LIKE THE GRASS, AND WITHER AS THE GREEN HERB.” What David does is to list here, by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, the sure consequences for all the evil doers, and the ultimate end of all the workers of iniquity. The LORD does not let any evil nor any iniquity pass by, without judging it justly and righteously. This is written in stone, and there is no change in it, except when the person returns to the LORD with repentance, and seeks sincerely His gracious forgiveness.
There are four things that will surely happen to all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity.
1- SHALL
The judgement of all the evil doers and the workers of iniquity is certain. Have no doubt about that. They SHALL be judged by the holy, just and righteous God Almighty.
2- SOON
The time of judgement, for all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity – the wicked men and women of this world – is SOON. How soon? As soon as from the very next moment, till the time which the LORD would consider it right and appropriate. It could be right now, or could also be ten years now, or may be even more. In some cases, it may not be in our lifetime. However, it is good to note that, it will last only untill the LORD decides to call for an account from all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity. Once the LORD calls the person to account, the curtain fall, and the judgement begins.
3- CUT DOWN
The “Cut Down” of all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity is done by the LORD. The action of cutting the grass is the righteous judgement of God, where all the wicked men and women of the world, will be cut down like grass and the green herb/plant. Such a judgement would be swift and sharp. It is permanent in nature, and once “CUT DOWN” it cannot be reversed or undone.
4- WITHER
The judgement of God, when it falls upon all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity – the evil men and women – it will make him wither and dry out. This is the natural sequence of events. Once the wicked are CUT DOWN by the LORD, then they simply WITHER dry, on their own.
– What once seemed to gloriously prosper, unhindered and unrestrained, all of a sudden comes crashing down into reality.
– What appeared like invisible power and growth, is actually a mask that was hiding the truth.
– When the LORD Jesus finishes His righteous judgement, all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity would be fit for nothing but, to be burnt to ashes, in the fire.
– They become utterly useless and worthless for anything, despite all what they had enjoyed.
Dear brothers and sisters, let us be aware of all what will happen to all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity. Let us always remember it, and never ever forget the ultimate end of all the evil doers, and the workers of iniquity. Let us never fret about the evil doers, nor envy the workers of iniquity, because they will be utterly burnt to ashes.
– “5 You carry them away like a flood; They are like a sleep. In the morning they are like grass which grows up: 6 In the morning it flourishes and grows up; In the evening it is cut down and withers.” – Psalm 90:5-6
May the words of our LORD, through the pen of David, enable us always, to keep our eyes fixed upon Jesus; meditate upon His Word, night and day; and walk in all His ways, faithfully and obediently. Even so, the LORD help us.
"The wicked may seem to prosper, but their success is short-lived. Like grass, they will wither away...Believers are encouraged to trust in God's timing and justice, knowing that He will ultimately deal with the wicked...The righteous are called to be patient and persevere in doing good, trusting that God sees and rewards their faithfulness. Unlike the fleeting nature of human endeavours, God's word endures forever and is a firm foundation for life."
