May 5, 2026Proverbs chapter three is full of godly wisdom for our life. The instructions of the LORD as found in Proverbs chapter three are a must read for any serious Christian. The LORD pours out His heart through these instructions which should help us live a life worthy of His name, filled with blessings from His hands.
We will look at these 35 verses over the course of the coming days. As for our meditation this morning, let us look at verse 33. It may appear odd to begin with this verse. However, the key to understanding the heart of God, and how His goodness and grace flows into our lives is mentioned here.
– “33 The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the habitation of the just.” – Proverbs 3:33
Truth is always bitter, and hence, tough to digest. Yet, in knowing the truth, and in accepting it as it is, is a blessing in itself. Here is the godly truth, that we should remember always, and never forget…
1- “The curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked”
2- “but he blesseth the habitation of the just”
1- “THE CURSE OF THE LORD IS IN THE HOUSE OF THE WICKED”
– A wicked person is he when our hearts are wicked.
– A wicked person is he when we walk in the paths of wickedness.
– A wicked person is he when we have wicked motives and intent.
– A wicked person is he when we are wicked in our thoughts, words, and deeds.
– IT IS INVARIABLE THAT WE REAP ITS CONSEQUENCES, when all what we are in our thoughts, words and deeds is nothing but wickedness.
Let us never envy wicked people, nor practice wickedness in any of our dealings with our fellow human beings. God our LORD truly deeply hates wickedness. He detests wickedness, and utterly abhors all who like, believe, and practice wickedness. Therefore, the curse of the LORD will be in the house of all who like, believe and practice wickedness – whether they be individuals, a family, a group of people, or a nation, “chosen” or otherwise.
– “15 But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee:” – Deuteronomy 28:15
2- “BUT HE BLESSETH THE HABITATION OF THE JUST”
– A just person is he who walks in the paths of righteousness.
– A just person he who is honest in all his dealings with his fellow human beings.
– A just person is he who chooses to honour God by walking in obedience to His word and commands.
– A just person is he to whom speaking and living the truth matters more than profit or loss or any other thing in life.
– A just person is he who likes, believes and practices truth even if it hurts him and causes suffering, pain and loss.
When we choose to walk in the paths of righteousness, as commanded by the LORD Jesus, then we honour God. When we choose to honour God by being honest and truthful in all our dealings, then the LORD is pleased with us. When we the LORD is pleased with us, His blessings would not be far away.
– “1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.” – Deuteronomy 28:1-2
I would choose to walk in the ways that our LORD is asking us. Even if it causes me material loss, I would want to unflinchingly walk in the paths of righteousness. So God help me. What about you? Dear brothers and sisters, there is nothing more better than to walk faithfully and obediently on the Narrow Path. For in it is life, and all the very best of best that one can imagine. Even if there are no blessings, still, to walk in the paths of righteousness is the best thing for us to do. Even so, the LORD help us.
