The Bible says that God’s ways are different from human ways. God our Creator and Redeemer demands from us our obedience. For the LORD God Almighty, the God of the Bible, our obedience to Him is absolutely essential. Without our obedience to God, there is no covenantal relationship between the LORD and us.
When we obey the LORD Jesus in a visible and tangible manner, then the omniscient power of God begins to flow through our lives. When it does, the abundant blessings of God flows in and through us. Let us always remember, and never forget the God ordained sequence for our lives – obedience first, and then the abundance follows – our volitional and wilful obedience will invariably leads us to heavenly abundance. This is what Proverbs 3:9-10 teaches us.
– “9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: 10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” – Proverbs 3:9-10
For our meditation this morning, let us look at Proverbs 3:10.
– “10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.” – Proverbs 3:10
What can we see in the above verse? I see these words boldly standing up – “So shall thy barns be filled with plenty…thy presses shall burst out…” To understand Proverbs 3:10, we need to know the words which preceded in Proverbs 3:9. We “SHALL BE FILLED WITH PLENTY…” and our storehouse “… SHALL BURST OUT…” only if we “9 Honour the LORD with thy [our] substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine [our] increase;”
– “Proverbs 3:10 assures us that when we honor God with our resources, He promises to provide abundantly. This teaches us to trust in God’s provision rather than our own understanding. / While the verse speaks of material abundance, it also points to spiritual blessings. A life aligned with God’s wisdom leads to both spiritual fulfillment and material needs being met. / The promise of abundance is a testament to God’s faithfulness. It reassures believers that God honors His promises when we live according to His principles.” – Berean Study Bible Notes
Dear brothers and sisters, what is the status of our Christian walk, this morning? What things are bothering us? What pressing needs are occupying our hearts and minds? Let us always remember the God ordained sequence – OBEDIENCE first, then follows ABUNDANCE.
– “33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Matthew 6:33
Oh dear Christian, let us therefore set our hearts and minds to do what the LORD is asking from us. Are we failing and falling down at times, in our walk with the LORD? Let us not forget that we are still in our flesh and blood. This realisation should prod us to lean upon God our Father, more than ever. He will surely help us. He will strengthen our faith. He will enable us to live for Him. Let us meanwhile, with all our heart, mind and soul, seek the LORD to help us obey Him. Even so, the LORD help us.
"God is the master and distributor of unlimited resources. He knows how to prosper and take care of those who honor Him with the resources He has given to them."
