SING TO HIM A NEW SONG

As Christians and the children of the Living God, one thing should come most naturally to us. It is something that does not come so easily to the man of flesh, the natural man, the man of the world. To praise someone as an expression of our gratitude is something that the fallen human beings find it difficult. It does not come naturally to us. 

Many times as Christians, still “encased” in the flesh,band “enamoured” by the world and all its desires, we find it difficult to praise God enough, and thank Him for all what we enjoy our of His abundant grace and mercy. Ingratitude has a way to finding itself into a Christian’s heart, if we are not careful and paying attention. What we focus upon in our lives, is how we live in our life.
– “Gratitude requires moving my eyes from the things I don’t have to the things I do have. It means saying there is good, real good, in this car. In this job or this home. I have to say, in one sense, “This is enough.” / Gratitude celebrates blessings received. As long as we’re consumed with blessings we haven’t received, we’ll never possess it.” – Joseph Rhea

The Psalmist, writing in Psalm 33:1-3, wants us to understand this critical spiritual truth, and live it fully in our lives. 
– “​1 Rejoice in the LORD, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful. 2 Praise the LORD with the harp; Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings. 3 Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.” – Psalm 33:1-3

What the Word of God says in the above verses is distilled truth. We are called to…
– REJOICE in the LORD
– PRAISE the LORD with the harp
– MAKE MELODY to HIM with an INSTRUMENT of ten strings
– SING to Him a NEW SONG
– Play skilfully with a SHOUT of JOY

Expression of our gratitude, thanks, praise and worship to God is more a reflection of us, our hearts and its attitude. Now let us compare the above list to ourselves. Are we REJOICING IN THE LORD? Are we PRAISING THE LORD? Is a “MELODIOUS” song being hummed in our hearts? Do we have a “NEW SONG” a new list of praise points to THANK GOD? Do we “SHOUT” out of “JOY” to the LORD our God, who “daily loads us with blessings?” – Psalm 68:19.

How are we placed this morning in our attitude towards the LORD Jesus Christ? Does praise come most naturally to us? Do we readily, willingly and eagerly want to praise our LORD and worship Him with all our hearts? Do we SING TO HIM A NEW SONG every morning, afternoon, evening and night? A question worth asking. May we be people to whom PRAISING GOD comes naturally. Even so the LORD help us.
