The fall has altered our lives completely. We have become the exact opposite of what we were created for. The effects of our sin and rebellion are such, that even after our redemption, we possess within us, the possibility to sin against the LORD who rescued us.
“22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.” – Romans 7:22-23.
We see all through history, people who are rescued by the LORD, have not only erred, buy some have walked on ways which brought shame and destruction. In some cases, the damage was limited, and in some other cases it affected a whole lot of people. In some other cases, it was the individual who was affected and no one else.
Some such people are, Lot, Achan, Samson, David, Solomon, Jonah, Gehazi, Ananias and Sapphira, Demas and Peter.
We too face such similar choices in our walk with the LORD. The path of a Christian crosses with the ways of the world. The principles of the Kingdom clash with the methods of the world. When such a clash occurs, the strength of our resolve, and the character of our heart is tested. The result depends on what we desire and choose.
Let us live wisely and worthily for the LORD, who called us out of darkness into His marvellous Light!
"15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do...24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!"
