The Word of God, that is the Bible, records in many places, “This says the LORD” or “The LORD says.” The Word of the LORD is expected to be taken earnestly and seriously. In obeying the Word of God, there is blessing and our good.
The wise man writing about the Word of God in Proverbs 13:13 has this for us – “13 He who despises the word will be destroyed, But he who fears the commandment will be rewarded.”
There are a few more references for our reading…
“31 Because he has despised the word of the LORD, and has broken His commandment, that person shall be completely cut off; his guilt shall be upon him.”
“16 But they mocked the messengers of God, despised His words, and scoffed at His prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against His people, till there was no remedy.”
“24 Therefore, as the fire devours the stubble, And the flame consumes the chaff, So their root will be as rottenness, And their blossom will ascend like dust; Because they have rejected the law of the LORD of hosts, And despised the word of the Holy One of Israel.” – Numbers 15:31, 2 Chronicles 36:16, Isaiah 5:24.
Let us take the written Word of God seriously and obey it earnestly. This is what our LORD desires. Herein is our good. Therefore, let us obey the LORD.
"God's commands are designed to guide you to life's very best. You will not obey Him, if you do not believe Him and trust Him. You cannot believe Him if you do not love Him. You cannot love Him unless you know Him."
