What a great privilege and honour it is to know and realise that when we earnestly pray to our LORD, He cares to hear our prayers and our cries. More than the privilege that prayer is, we should see the heart of God and His immeasurable love for us…that He cares to hear our prayers. What an honour!
The Psalmist, writing about prayer, pens his own experience about God’s love, care and help for us, in Psalm 102:17…
– “17 He shall regard the prayer of the destitute, And shall not despise their prayer.”
1- It is good for us to know and realise that the LORD shall regard our prayers. He cares for us and is mindful of us and our struggles.
2- The LORD shall not despise our prayers. He will not take them lightly, nor count our prayers as worthless. No, the LORD will not do so.
The Bible records good many instances, where the prayers of His people were answered, in impossible situations. Here are few for us, to read and realise, the goodness and the grace of God Almighty, when it comes to our prayers.
– “7 Then we cried out to the LORD God of our fathers, and the LORD heard our voice and looked on our affliction and our labor and our oppression.” – Deuteronomy 26:7
– “5 “Return and tell Hezekiah the leader of My people, ‘Thus says the LORD, the God of David your father: “I have heard your prayer, I have seen your tears; surely I will heal you. On the third day you shall go up to the house of the LORD.” – 2 Kings 20:5
– “13 But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.” – Luke 1:13
The LORD truly cares for us, and is mindful of us and our needs. The LORD wants us to be faithful and obedient to all that He asked of us. Our obedience will ensure the LORD to stand by us at all times…no matter our situation. HalleluYah! Praise be to the LORD!!!
– “14 Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15 And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.” – 1 John 5:14-15
– “21 Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God. 22 And whatever we ask we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do those things that are pleasing in His sight.” – 1 John 3:21-22
Even so the LORD help us to seek Him, and Him alone, at all times, and in all our needs. May we realise this the LORD cares for us and regards our prayers.
"When I am made silent by the circumstances of life, I remember the psalmist’s words: “I am so troubled that I cannot speak” (Ps. 77:4) and realize I am not alone...I [also] realize that what God wants most isn’t necessarily a stream of eloquent words, but “a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise” (Ps. 51:17)."
