Beth Moore has put it straight and simple. No confusion about it. We should hope only in Yahweh. If not, it is no hope at all. Even if we hope in God, along with someone else, as a back-up, it is still, no hope at all. It is hanging on, by a thread…rope if you like it straight.
Hope is not some feel-good sentimental feeling. It is trusting, that God is with us, in the face of severest of opposition. It is to be calm in the boat, that is ravaged by a severe storm, unlike any you have ever seen, as a seasoned fisherman.
It is to go against your common sense, and all your experience that screams, ‘no hope,’ and trust God to somehow do what is right. But you don’t know they ‘when’ and the ‘how’ of it. Do you see yourself with the disciples in the boat with “”little faith?””
Hope and Faith is what Shadrach, Meshac and Abedneggo showed, when they were about to be thrown into the fire. “”Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego replied… “King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.” – Dan 3:16-18
That is hope and faith in God, my friends. The true hope. We just have to believe and hope on His word. Not try to manipulatively make God do what we want. Hope/faith is not some mumbo jumbo being dished out by half-baked peddlers these days. Pardon me for saying it straight.
