If one desires to win a marathon race, then it goes without saying that, they should be able to run for long distances without exhausting themselves. So also, if a Christian wants to walk with the LORD, in the race called life, then, it goes without saying that, we should be able to do so, without fainting from fatigue or discouragement.
The wise words from Proverbs 24:10, speak to us with clarity about how important is the strength to stand in the race called life – “10 If you faint in the day of adversity, Your strength is small.”
The Bible is trying to help us see, what goes without saying. Here is a list that I see…
– adversity is real
– it requires strength to withstand adversity
– at times our strength may not be enough to face and overcome the adversity
– we will fail in our fight against adversity, because we do not have enough strength
– we are expected to build our strength to face and fight our adversities
– this strength is not just physical
– this strength is mental, emotional and spiritual strength
– it comes to us through discipline, dedication and obedience to LORD
– it requires us to acknowledge that we have insufficient strength
– it requires us to read the Word of God, and walk the way of the LORD in faith
– it requires us to seek the LORD for help and strength
What is the state of our strength? How are we able to face our adversities? Are we able to resist and fight back? May the LORD help us to stand strong in the face of our adversities.
"The inwards fortitude needed to face life’s difficulties comes only as we open our hearts to Christ in the quiet moment, ceasing from activity and letting Him supply guidance, confidence, and direction [as] we reflect on His word."
