The way on which, God has called us to walk upon is, not easy. It is narrow, and it is dark. It is difficult and fraught with danger. So what is so good about this narrow path, that we are called to walk? David, still wandering in the wilderness, writes Psalm 18, which is a treasure trove of wisdom for our life as a Christian. Let us look at verse 30 for our meditation, in the coming few days.
– “30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.” – Psalm 18:30
As the first of the meditations on this verse, let us look at “As for God, HIS WAY…” this morning.
“HIS WAY” – “IT IS GOD’S WAY!”
The way that David mentions in the above verse is, God’s way. This is the first and the foremost things that one needs to recognise and realise.
– It is the WAY, that God has called us to walk upon – “17 Then Jesus said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.” 18 They immediately left their nets and followed Him.” – Mark 1:17-18
– It is the WAY, where our LORD Jesus Himself had walked upon – “15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.” – Hebrews 4:15
– It is the WAY, where the LORD Himself will walk with us – “1 But now thus says the LORD, he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine. 2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” – Isaiah 43:1-2
Let us recognise and realise that God’s way is the best for us to walk upon. Such a way may demand from us our everything. We may have to pay a heavy price to walk that way. Whatever the case, walking on God’s way is the best thing that we can ever do. So let us walk God’s way, willing and joyfully. The LORD will take care of everything else, including our fears, our concerns and all that may fall upon us. Even so the LORD help us.
"The road that leads to Heaven is risky, lonely, and costly in this world, and few are willing to pay the price. Following Jesus involves losing your life – and finding new life in him."
