Saving money is an essential trait for a healthy financial condition. Saving is an advance preparation, for the proverbial ‘rainy day.’ Any amount that is put aside, is saving. So also, any amount that is spent wisely, after comparing the price, and evaluating its ‘price to worth’ ratio, along with its necessity and its usefulness. This is where judicious spending come in. Judicious spending doesn’t mean, one buys substandard items, so that we can save money. Nay, it is, in fact, a huge loss. The money spent, as well as the item bought, by virtue of being substandard, are both a waste.
Saving doesn’t come naturally to most of us. Many a woman, while I was growing up, had their own ‘savings account’ in the kitchen, which helped when the finances were tight. I have seen it with my own eyes. Thank God for such wise women!!!
The Bible does talk about being wise with our money. It speaks about saving a part of our income, while it is going well with us. “Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise! It has no commander, no overseer or ruler, yet it stores its provisions in summer, and gathers its food at harvest.” – Proverbs 6:6-8
“20 There is desirable treasure, And oil in the dwelling of the wise, But a foolish man squanders it.” – Proverbs 21:20
May we walk the path of wise living. May we be people who save, when the going is good. Also, judiciously spend what is needed, and not go for extravagance, but buy things, without compromising on quality. So LORD help us.
"Save when you don’t need it, and it’ll be there for you when you do."
