The Bible, which is the Word of God, is given to us for our good and our blessing. The secret is in obeying what the LORD says in it, with all our heart. Proverbs 13:13 gives us a wise insight for a worthwhile living – “13 Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.”
Psalm 119, which so eloquently speaks about the glory of the Word of God, says – “Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments.” – Psalm 119:73. The Psalmist expresses his deep desire to follow the LORD, because it is good.
What we think and believe about God, is seen in our obedience to the commands of the LORD. Such an obedience is expected to be out of love, and a deep desire to do what God says, and not out of fear, that if we don’t obey God, God will punish us. The motive is a true indicator of our heart and what it wants. May the LORD help us.
"Wicked men obey from fear; good men, from love."
